This file contains a TMPL resource for ResEdit, as well as a PREC resource to play around with. Last time that I used this program, I had reasonable success. How to use: Open this file with ResEdit and install the TMPL into ResEdit. Next open the Imagewriter Driver file and open PREC ID=4 - this is the resource that the driver uses to define the page sizes that appear in the print dialog boxes. Here’s where some arithmetic is needed: multiply the dimensions of the paper sizes you wish to use by 120, and plug these numbers into the appropriate boxes in the resource. (Hence 11” x 8.5” becomes 1320 / 1020) You should also edit the names of these paper sizes to aid in selecting the proper size for printing.
Some words of caution:
1) I haven’t tested this method with every program, but it seems to work with all the ones I’ve tried (including WriteNow 2.0)
2) ResEdit can seriously corrupt your files if due care is not exercised (and often if it is!)
3) Do not under any circumstances modify PREC resources ID #0, 1, or 2!!!! This will probably have the effect of trashing the driver.
Hope this is helpful. The Application PREC Manager from Dreams of the Phoenix is a simpler utility for editing just PREC resources, but as far as I know, I’m not at liberty to give it away, but this is another method that can be used, and doesn’t come with the restrictions on distribution which pertain to commercial software.
